Advisory Board for proto-Academy announced

28 February 2023

We are delighted to announce the names of the confirmed members of the Advisory Board for the Academy for the Mathematical Sciences…..

During this key set-up phase, the proto-Academy’s work is being supported, challenged and enhanced by an Advisory Board. Excellent work has already been achieved by the various workstreams due to the significant breadth of knowledge and talent of the Executive Committee and Advisory Board.

We are delighted to announce the names of the confirmed members of the Advisory Board for the Academy for the Mathematical Sciences. You can see this list in full and read more about them here. The full list of the Executive Committee and Advisory Board and workstreams are available here.

The breadth and depth of nominees for the Executive Committee was impressive, with many more appointable nominees than available places on the Executive Committee. Much of the Advisory Board is therefore drawn from people who were nominated to the Executive Committee – and the skills they bring has already been very valuable. Further people have since been added to workstreams and we have an ongoing process to ensure that the members of each workstream represent the full range of our communities: this has been and is overseen by the proto-Academy’s People Committee. We are aware that our Advisory Board is not yet fully representative of our mathematical sciences communities and we therefore anticipate updates to its membership to fill gaps and ensure diversity of representation. Both the proto-Academy as a whole and individual workstreams will consult with wider communities in order to ensure a secure basis on which to build our work.
