CMS and AcadMathSci joint response to updated objectives and draft requirements

10 April 2024

The Council for the Mathematical Sciences and the Academy for the Mathematical Sciences have welcomed, and jointly responded to, the updated objectives and draft requirements for a National Academy focussed on the mathematical sciences.

Their joint response is as follows:

“The Council for the Mathematical Sciences (CMS) and the Academy for the Mathematical Sciences (AcadMathSci) welcome the publication by DSIT on 27th March of updated objectives and draft requirements for a National Academy focussed on the mathematical sciences. We note the breadth and effectiveness of the community engagement process undertaken by DSIT after publication of its initial draft objectives, including DSIT putting on two additional Round Table events in response to the extent of community interest. We also welcome the adjustments to the initial draft objectives made in response to community feedback, including the enhancements on education. We agree that the objectives and requirements proposed are appropriate and necessary for a National Academy. Furthermore, we look forward to the Academy for the Mathematical Sciences engaging in the DSIT processes to deliver the new National Academy.”
