James Van Yperen completed his PhD at the University of Sussex in 2020. He is currently working at the University of Sussex as a postdoctoral researcher conducting demand and capacity mathematical modelling for the NHS and local authorities within the Sussex region.
James has been the Events Leader for the IMA’s Early Career Mathematicians (ECM) Committee since January 2021, and will serve until January 2024. He is mainly responsible for the significant increase and diversification in events the IMA has produced and ran for ECMs, including events on diversity, icebreaker activities for conferences, and on teaching at academia. He is looking forward to working with the Advisory Board and participating in the ECM workstream to find ways to help other ECMs meet their potential.
