Dr Luke Davis

Luke Davis is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Mathematics at University College London (UCL). Luke’s research focuses on utilizing approaches from statistical physics, optimal control theory, and numerical optimization to understand, design, and control active and/or biological systems. Luke originally trained as a theoretical physicist at UCL and has also conducted research in Toronto and Luxembourg.

Alongside his research, Luke has founded and led many EDI projects including the python-powered quiz show Diversity Challenge (inspired by University Challenge), which celebrates underrepresented scientists of past and present and went live at the Royal Institution in 2019. Luke also enjoys mentoring the next generation of mathematicians and scientists, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds.
