Matt Tranter is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics in the Department of Physics and Mathematics at Nottingham Trent University. His research concerns nonlinear waves and wave propagation, most recently with the aim of controlling the integrity of layered structures. He also conducts research in fluid-structure interaction problems and diffuse-interface models for droplet motion.
Matt is responsible for student research projects in Mathematics at NTU and consequently has developed an interest in research on student learning and achievement. Most recently this involves Learning for Mastery formative assessments and their impact on achievement and progression in Mathematics programmes.
Matt is a Member of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications and an Ordinary Member of the London Mathematical Society.
