Tony Samuel is an Associate Professor of Mathematics, a Director of Student Experience and Head of the Topology and Dynamics research group in the School of Mathematics at the University of Birmingham. He has held academic posts at California Polytechnic State University, Universität Bremen, Australian National University and the University of St Andrews. Tony has also had the privilege of holding prolonged research stays at the Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics, Humboldt–Universität zu Berlin, Institut Mittag–Leffler, and South China University of Technology.
Tony’s research focuses on aperiodic order (mathematical quasicrystals), Diophantine approximations, dynamical systems, fractal geometry, and numeration systems; and more recently he has become interested in developing interactive digital educational materials.
