Giles Pavey is Director of Data Science for the multinational consumer goods company Unilever. This role centres around the application of advanced mathematical, statistical and AI methods to make Unilever’s business more effective and more efficient, with projects ranging from upstream carbon reduction, production line optimisation, logistics, marketing effectiveness and product innovation.
Alongside this work, Giles is the Chair of Industrial Advisors for the Oxford University Centre for Doctoral Training in Industrial Mathematics and also performs this role at the UCL AI Centre, where he is an Honorary Professor. Giles is Vice Chair of the Royal Statistical Society Data Science Section which promotes the activities and interests of the UK Data Science practitioner community.
