Benedikt Löwe is a Fellow at Churchill College, Cambridge and Professor of Mathematical Logic and interdisciplinary Applications of Logic at the Universität Hamburg. He is the chairholder of the CIPSH Chair ‘Diversity of Mathematical Research Cultures & Practices’; his research includes mathematical logic and foundations of mathematics as well as the study of mathematics as a human discipline.
He has served in governance and advisory roles in national learned societies (such as the German and Dutch logic societies) and international science organisations (such as the International Union for History and Philosophy of Science and Technology and the International Science Council) and is a member of the Académie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences (AIPS).
