James Davenport is uniquely, a professor in both the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bath. He has been a Vice-President (Academy) of the BCS and the IMA representative on the LMS’ Computer Science Committee. Both IMA and BCS have asked him to lead on evidence for Parliamentary enquiries.
James currently convenes the Working Group “Engineering Aspects” of CEN-CENELEC JTC21 “Artificial Intelligence”, preparing standards to support the proposed EU AI Act, and is on the liaison group between the ISO-IEC committees on Artificial Intelligence and on Cybersecurity. He has been on the Advisory Committee for Mathematical Education, and is a National Teaching Fellow.
