Peter Clarkson is an Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Kent. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford. After various postdoctoral positions, Peter became a lecturer in Mathematics at the University of Exeter in 1989, then became a Professor of Mathematics at Kent in 1995.
Peter was a member of the LMS Women in Mathematics committee for 12 years, and their Good Practice Steering committee which he chaired for 6 years. In 2020, Peter won the LMS Senior Anne Bennet prize for his work supporting gender equality. Peter has been a member of Athena Swan panels for 10 years.
Peter’s research interests are in integrable systems, in particular the Painlevé equations, orthogonal polynomials and symmetries of differential equations.
